On 27th March 2023, Associate Professor Dr. Sarintip Tantanee, President of Naresuan University (NU), Thailand, led the NU administrative team comprising (i) Professor Dr. Kornkanok Ingkaninan, Vice President for Research and Innovation Development; (ii) Dr. Yutthapong Tongpob, Assistant to the President for Research and Innovation Development; (iii) Assistant Professor Dr. Saisiri Merasena, Dean of Faculty of Medical Science; (iv) Associate Professor Dr. Sutisa Thanoi Deputy Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, Faculty of Medical Science; and (v) Associate Professor Dr. Sukunya Ross, Assistant Dean for Public Relations and International Affairs, Faculty of Science, in a visit to Gunma University (GU), Isesaki, Japan.

      NU delegates discussed with Professor Dr. Yasuki Ishizaki, President of GU, and the GU administrative team at Aramaki campus about the possibilities of research and academic collaborations (i.e., BASL3, food and wellness, neuroscience, cancer medical science, diabetes mellitus), student and staff exchange, as well as opportunities for linkages with private sectors.

      After a pleasant round of introduction and discussion, the delegates from NU visited GU’s Kiryu campus with the intermediation of Professor Dr. Kou Yamada from Division of Mechanical Science and Technology, Graduate School of Science and Technology, to conclude an inter-faculty activities and agreements.

The NU team then visited the laboratories led by Prof. Dr. Nobuyoshi Nakagawa from Department of Environmental Engineering Science, Prof. Dr. Yuya Tanaka from Department of Mechanical Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. You Yin from Division of Electronics and Informatics, Department of Mathematics and Physics, and Prof. Dr. Nobuhiro Takeda from Department of Materials and BioScience, under the attentive guidance of Professor Dr. Shinichi Kuroda, Chairman of the International Exchange Committee and Vice Director of Division of Industry-Academia Collaboration.

 Following the laboratory visits, the NU team paid a courtesy call to Prof. Dr. Tsuneaki Ishima, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology, and faculty members comprising Prof. Dr. Masafumi Unno from Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Prof. Dr. Masanobu Kanai from Graduate School of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Motoko S. Asano from Division of Molecular Science, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Masashi Sonoyama, Assoc. Dean / Division of Molecular Science.

      At Kiryu Textile Museum, NU delegates watched a video presentation of the museum’s 1,300-year history and admired the museum’s exquisite exhibits and efficient management.
