In-depth research PM2.5 in Phitsanulok: More than dust to the complexity of origin and season

The Naresuan University Graduate School presented an in-depth postgraduate study on PM2.5 dust, considering its concentration, particle shape (morphology), and elemental composition to reveal the true source of microscopic dust in the Phitsanulok province area. The study compared the 'forest area' (Mountain Kaew/Kwai Noi National Park) with the 'urban area' (Borom Trailoknath Road, Phitsanulok Municipality) during the dry season and rainy season. The results showed that the dry season in both areas exceeded the 24-hour safety standard.With an average forest area of 51.23 μg/m ³ and an average urban area of 46.33 μg/m ³ during the rainy season, the forest area decreased to 22.23 μg/m ³, returning to a safe level while the urban area remained elevated, indicating that urban dust was caused by continuous, seasonally-independent human activity. The FE-SEM analysis revealed up to 9 particle shapes, and the eds analysis found elements Si, N, S, K, Al, in addition to C and O, which are linked to a variety of sources.Both fossil fuel and biomass combustion, soil dust, biological debris, metal wear and agricultural activities, this research indicates that the effective management of PM2.5 must integrate both the amount, shape, particles and elemental elements to accurately identify the source of pollution.
